We’re getting excited about this year’s horticultural show, Saturday 3rd August 2019 at the Community hall, Fairfield, Ludgvan. This is a showcase for Gardeners & Growers, Flower arrangers, Handicraft makers, Cooks, Artists and photographers to come together on one day each year to socialise and compare notes on best practice in each category.
The quality of exhibits is always amazing, there are children’s sections in most categories and it is a joy to see each year what they have produced. The children from Ludgvan Primary School will be submitting paintings to give one wall of the Hall a riot of colour!
This is a community event and has been since 1903, now in it’s 116th year the horticultural show continues to depend on community support to make it a success. It is a wonderful thing to encourage the next generation to become involved in all things horticultural, to fill their minds with the wonders of the natural world, to grow a plant from seed to maturity and see beautiful colours and how bees are attracted to the pollen & nectar that are produced. To then record the event either in a photograph or a drawing or painting or a handicraft.
So please, all you parents and grandparents out there in Ludgvan Parish & beyond, get yourselves a copy of the show schedule, from the post office or download a copy from the website and encourage your family to take part in this years show. You will be planting a seed in the minds of the future generations and helping to ensure that the Ludgvan Horticultural Show will continue to provide a forum for homecooking, art, crafts, flowers, vegetables and photography for another 100 years. See you there!
